The local league table
The standings for local business
Every business ranked like a league table: by its star rating and by how many reviews back it up. Nobody pays for position.

The rules
How the table is calculated
Star ratings alone reward places with hardly any reviews. So every business starts on the same mark and its real reviews move it from there: the more people who rate it, the more their rating counts.
- Rating weighed by reviewsA great rating counts for more when lots of people agree. Two lucky reviews can't top the table.
- Ties go to the crowdLevel on points? The business with more reviews goes higher.
- No paid positionsThere's nothing to buy: no sponsored spots, no ads, no premium plans.
A city gets a league table once it has at least 5 businesses of that kind. The full rulebook
The points formula
Pts = (10 × 3.5 + rating × reviews) ÷ (10 + reviews)
| Pos | Business | P | Rtg | Pts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Example A | 300 | 4.7 | 4.66 |
| 2 | Example B | 2 | 5.0 | 3.75 |
Two perfect scores can't beat three hundred very good ones.
